Testimonials - What CCN Members are Saying
Eric Misunas - Thanks again for everything...I have never been so confident about achieving my goal of coaching in college, it’s a great feeling! That is an amazing collection of information. I loved watching the videos, reading the different paths that coaches took and I'm on Part 3 of the Report. I am going to take the time to finally write down my goals that I have been thinking about for years but never put my plan into motion. I look forward to talking to you and checking out more of the information that you have available.

How to Create Shots for Good Shooters
Question—
We run a lot of cutting/screening drills in practice but we can’t get
open shots in the game. We have smart guys and they are good
shooters. What is your advice on getting open for more open shots?
Answer—
I believe that through specific drill work, you will be able to
consistently get more shots for your best shooters.
One area that does receive much attention is the concept of
explosiveness. Explosiveness deals with an area of the game apart
from the traditional athletic skills attributed to basketball. Quickness,
How Can I Create a Winning Culture as a New Coach?
Thanks for the question Seth.
This would be a great question for the CCN Community because many of them have taken over new programs.
1. Determine your philosophy of coaching.
Establishing a culture will be a hard job if you don’t know exactly what you want your program to be and represent.
2. Establish your expectations of those in your program; players, coaches, support staff.
3. Create an environment of accountability. Productivity will be the result of working hard and meeting and exceeding the expectations that are establishes for everyone.
Trapping out of 1-3-1
Tommy,
The 1-3-1 is a great change from man to man, especially out of a timeout or dead ball.
I think you should "invite the ball to the corners and trap hard then. I think trapping out on the floor gives the player with the ball too much vision of the floor and passing options. In the corner it becomes a tough play.
On the corner trap, rotate from the weak side to front the post and take away the return pass. The only option will be a long skip pass which will give you time to recover, closeout, and get your defense set.
Hope that helps,
RB
